Rosalie Di Castro says it best. "I see my path, but I don't know where it leads. Not knowing
where I'm going is what this inspires me to travel." Personally, I do not know where my
future leads; however, I know it will inspire my artwork. It is a fulfillment unlike none
other when I look at my finished artwork and know how much God has blessed me. I first began
with an interest in art and no knowledge, my junior year of high school. Since then, I have
developed techniques with the help of professors who have also shown me dreams, goals, and
passion for art as a way of life. I have learned art is not a hobby for me but rather it is
a lifeline. My aspirations are to use this knowledge to the best of my capabilities as I am
pursuing a new path in life.
I have used a variety of medias but have found I prefer painting in acrylics. Other mediums
I enjoy and use on occassion are oil and watercolor paints along with conte crayon. In my work,
I usually encompass real life in some form or fashion. My work is truly diversified in that I like
to explore a variety of subjects from flowers, building structures, fruit, and portraits to landscapes.
There is some artwork I will never sell; however, I am willing to create something similar to it, if
specifically asked. When people see my work, I want them to get a glimpse of the passion I have for art.
If they can even see a little of what I feel through my art, then I will have accomplished much. For me
art is a release that is very freeing on all levels. I continually have ideas or images in my head that
need to escape and get out and they become the subject matter for new works. When the piece is finished
successfully, it feels like sunshine bearing down on me through the clouds. I keep painting because I have grown
to love the warmth of the sunshine.
